Matthew McLean – Director
Matthew is a founding director, having established the practice with Andrew Lane in July 2007.
Matthew has been in public practice since December 1996 and prior to establishing Matrix Partners was a director in another mid-sized public practice.
Matthew is a FCPA and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the University of South Australia and his experience covers a breadth of areas including income tax, business structuring and restructuring, capital gains tax, including the application of the small business concessions, business turnaround, cash flow optimisation and business and personal insolvency related matters.
Matthew is responsible for a diverse range of clients across numerous industries including container sales, hire & modifications, fresh produce retailing, building & construction, mining services, equipment hire, real estate and professional services including legal, medical and physiotherapy.
Away from work Matthew enjoys spending time with his young family, playing golf, keeping fit and has a keen interest in many sports, particularly his favoured AFL team, the Port Power.
Mark McDonnell – Director
Mark joined the practice in 2012 and was appointed director in 2013.
Mark commenced his career in 1997, with most of his working life spent in practice providing taxation and business advice to private and family businesses together with four years in a specialist consulting capacity with a “Big 4” international accounting firm.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant who holds both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws degree from UWA. He has a detailed understanding of the legal issues which impact businesses and their stakeholders. Mark’s client base is broad and includes businesses with a combination of local, national and international operations.
In his spare time Mark keeps busy trying to keep up with his family including two school aged boys, and enjoys most sports you can name as well as travelling, reading, “retro” music and getting down to the beach on weekends.
Andrew Lane – Consultant
Andrew was a founding director of the practice in July 2007.
Andrew has been in public practice since 1986 and previously also held a directorship position in another mid-sized public practice which commenced in July 1991.
Andrew is a FCPA, Chartered Tax Advisor and holds a Bachelor of Business Degree. He specialises in tax consultancy and business advisory.
Andrew has considerable experience in public practice and non-executive director, company secretary roles for ASX listed companies. He has delivered advice to a wide range of businesses across a number of industries, including equipment hire, retail, property, building, wholesale, software start-ups, sporting and financial services.
He has spent many years advising to businesses in Asia and the UAE, with particular interest in China, Indonesia and Dubai.
Andrew is also currently the Chair of a Family Office.
